Deanna was born to write. As a child she wrote and illustrated the Creepy Book Series, a series of short stories that entailed the adventures of her life as a child growing up in Sechelt, a small town situated on the South Coast of British Columbia.

Throughout her adolescence, Deanna wrote a short story and a novella. She only wrote those stories for herself and for her family and close friends because, at that point in her life, she desired to become an elementary school teacher. Writing was just something she enjoyed doing as a hobby.

Upon completion of high school, Deanna received a passport to education and a two-year scholarship to the university of her choice—The University of Northern British Columbia, a small university located in Prince George. In her second year of studies, she started a historical fiction set during the reign of terror in France. At first, she decided to write this book for herself, but as the story evolved, she decided that she was going to write with the intentions of becoming a published author.

In the fall semester of 2007, she applied to do an independent study with creative writing professor, Dr. Rob Budde. Her proposal was accepted, and the study focused on the writing, plot development and character development of her book. In that semester, Deanna wrote two articles, Little Casey Sas and Audrey L'Heureux: Photojournalism the Hard Way. Both articles were published in UNBC's "Over-the-Edge Newspaper".

In May of 2008, shortly after she completed the study, Deanna obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History. After graduation, it took eight months to complete the rough draft of her manuscript. In that time, she wrote one article for "Just Business Magazine", a magazine based in Gibsons, British Columbia.  After taking some time off from her book, it took four more months to edit the entire manuscript. The title of Deanna's book is Day of Revenge. She has an idea for her next historical novel and plans to start writing it in the next month.

Deanna currently writes short content articles for Suite101.com. She enjoys writing about many different topics, but her main focus on that site is in History and Creative Writing.
